Cost

For copywriting & SEO content writing

My copywriting day rate for eight hours of work is only £300. Compared to the UK average of £433, you save £133 (over 30%) every day.

Like most copywriters, I charge a per-project price rather than by the hour or the word. This is affected by things like:

  • The size of the project.

  • The word count.

  • Urgency.

  • Complexity.

  • How much research it needs.

I consider all quotes carefully, and always offer a fair price.

For proofreading & copyediting

Anchor 1

How much I charge for proofreading and copyediting depends on the level of help you need.

Editing 1,000 words of simple, well-researched copy written in good English will be far easier - and far cheaper - than 1,000 words of technical copy that’s full of mistakes.

Before quoting for an editing project, I’ll ask to see a sample of the copy to advise you on what level of help is appropriate for you.

As a rule of thumb, my editing prices are as follows:

  • Proofreading - From £19 per 1,000 words.

  • Copyediting - From £28 per 1,000 words.

  • Substantive editing - From £40 per 1,000 words.

You can find out what each level includes by taking a look at my proofreading and copyediting service page.

These prices are based on the suggested minimum rates from the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading.

No VAT

Since I’m not VAT registered, the price you see is the price you pay. Once our price is agreed, it won’t change unless you ask for extra work that hasn’t been quoted for, or the project brief changes significantly. That means you always know exactly what you’re spending right from the start.
